3 Must Do’s for Secret Wedding Vows

Secret Wedding Wows

Are you waiting for your wedding ceremony to make the big reveal on your wedding vows? I admire that! I love the courage and spontaneity in your relationship. I do, however, have a few tips to keep everyone happy—

  1. Talk about a format. You’ll want to at least know how long, how many words, how many bullet points or sentences you will each write. Will one of you make promises while the other one gushes compliments? Will one of you be be funny and the other sincere? Be sure to be on the same page with expectations and your format. Your wedding day isn’t the best day for unwanted surprises. ;)

  2. Do your research. Grey’s Anatomy counts. The countless romantic/witty/insightful conversations that Shonda Rhimes has given us are a good place to start. At the very least, the wine you’ll drink and the tears you’ll shed watching most episodes will put you deeper into your soul than you’ve possibly ever been.I’m only half joking. If you want sincere vows, research sincere. If you want humor look up sweet romantic comedies. If you want biblical, there’s really only one place for you to look. Get in there and do your research.

  3. Practice, practice, practice. Your mind will go blank, your palms may be sweaty. You’ve had so much on your plate and now the moment is here, you’re marrying the love of your life and…your mind is completely empty. Write your vows on two cards in case one is too sweaty or crumpled up to hold. Give one to whomever is standing up for you and they will know if you need it or not. Oh yes, and run your vows by that person as well. Practice will only make your wedding vows better.

Congratulations to you! And, always feel free to reach out if you need any help.
